Head of Outreach Services
The Head of Outreach Services must have a high standard of customer service, is friendly and cooperative, and strives to provide excellent customer service to patrons and staff. This position requires the ability to alternate between a variety of tasks quickly and accurately. The Head of Outreach Services is responsible for managing several partnerships, overseeing production of the library’s print and electronic newsletters and online postings, overseeing promotion of library and partner programs, coordinating on-site events with library partners, and managing the library’s participation in community events. This person will spend a very significant portion of their time actively coordinating and promoting Hispanic services to Spanish-speaking patrons, connecting with the Spanish-speaking community to identify and meet developing needs, such as, collection requests, programs, reference assistance, etc., and promoting library services to this population. This person will regularly engage in public speaking at library programs and interact with a diverse group of individuals at community events, and will make regular presentations to the library’s Board of Trustees and regularly attend community networking, internal library meetings, and training as necessary. This person is required to show proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English and Spanish.
Applicants must be at least 21 years of age and have a Bachelor’s Degree or some college coursework in library/media technology, plus a minimum of five years working in a community outreach position, with a preference for previous work in a public library. Bilingual ability to speak, read, and write in English and Spanish is required. Previous experience with social media is helpful. Previous supervisory/management experience is also required. Computer competency required. All applicants can not have any felony or serious misdemeanor offenses. All applicants are subject to a background check, and employment is contingent on passing those assessments.
Schedule: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week, including morning, afternoon, evening, and weekend hours. Schedule requires presence during hours library is open to public for service and some occasional extended hours at off-site events. Schedule is subject to change from week to week.
Salary: $20.59 - $30.89 hourly (depending on qualifications)
