Please note that programs marked with (R) require registration and programs marked (NR) do not require registration.  Please call if unable to attend.

 

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten

Ongoing Program

The 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten ongoing program encourages you to read 1,000 books to your child before he or she enters kindergarten. Just read three books a day for one year and it will add up to over 1,000 books! Stop by Youth Services to register your child and pick up a reading log! (R)

Kindergarten Readiness(Ages 3-5)

Wednesday, April 12 • 10:30 a.m.

Bring your preschooler and listen to a story, do an activity and learn some of the skills that will be needed to get them ready for kindergarten. This is a three-week program that will take place in the Meeting Room. (R)

 

Lego Robotics: Drumming Monkey (Ages 9 and up)

Wednesday, April 12 • 4:00 p.m.

With our WeDo Lego Construction Sets and software you will be able to build and program your project. Meet in the main level computer room in Adult Services. (R)

 

April Showers (Ages 4-7)

Wednesday, April 12 • 6:00 p.m.

Spring is in the air! Come in and dry off with this spring storytime and craft. (R)

 

Science Club: Stick Around!(Ages 8 and up)

Thursday, April 13 • 4:00 p.m.

There's nothing like a tasty snack on a stick. But when you are finished, don't throw out he stick! We will repurpose sticks (actually, we will use lots of new craft sticks) to do some awesome stick science projects! (R)

 

Kids Anime Night (Ages 9 and up)

Thursday, April 13 • 6:00 p.m.

Join us for an anime movie and a small treat. (R)

 

Drop-In and Get Crafty: Easter (All Ages)

Friday, April 14 • 1:00 - 3:00 p.m.

Stop by from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Activity Room and have fun making a craft to celebrate Easter. (NR)

 

National Sibling Day/ Dia Nacional de los Hermanos (All Ages)

Saturday, April 15 • 11:00 a.m. 

Come celebrate National Sibling Day with us in this bilingual program and with some stories and make a gift for a special sibling. (R)

 

E-books 101 for Kids (Ages 8 and up)

Tuesday, April 18 • 4:00 p.m.

Bring your Kindle, Nook, Ipad, Iphone or Android device and learn how to use Overdrive. Overdrive will allow you to check out books and some audiobooks on your device. So find out how you can get started today. Don't forget to bring your library card. (R)

Bee-Bots for Ages 8 and Up (Ages 8 and up)

Thursday, April 20 • 4:00 p.m.

We are being invaded by robot bees! With these bees you will be able to program them to move and go through mazes. Come and join the Bee fun! (R)

 

Kids Movie Night (All Ages)

Thursday, April 20 • 6:00 p.m.

We provide the popcorn! You may bring your own beverage and snack. Movies are shown on a larger screen in the Meeting Room. (NR)

 

Nature Club (Ages 5 & up)

Saturday, April 22 • 11:00 a.m.

In honor of Earth and Arbor Day, we will plant trees and seeds. We will discuss how we can help be a good citizen of Planet Earth. We will also create a 'green' craft. (R)

You must have done the Dancing Birds, Smart Spinner and Drumming Monkey projects to be able to do this project. (R)

Preschool Picasso (Ages 3-5)

Tuesday, May 2 • 11:30 a.m.

Bring your preschooler for hands-on arts and crafts! Each session will have a different theme. Make sure to dress in clothes you don't mind getting messy or bring a smock! (R)

 

Free Comic Book Day! (All Ages)

Saturday, May 6 • All Day

Celebrate Free Comic Book Day with free comics. Come down to the Youth Reference Desk and choose a free comic! (NR)

 

Pet Expo (All Ages)

Saturday, May 6 • 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Visit with animal shelters, search and rescue organizations, dog and cat rescue groups and veterinary groups to get information about pets. Free event for all. Drop-in from 1 to 3 p.m.  (NR)

 

Toddler Art (12-24 months)

Tuesday, May 9 • 11:30 a.m.

Toddlers learn through all 5 senses! Bring your little one for fun hands-on, sensory activities to learn about and interact with the world around them. Each session will have a different theme. This fun program can get messy, so don't forget to bring a smock or an old t-shirt for you and your child. (R)

 

Fantastic Flowers (Ages 4-7)

Wednesday, May 10 • 6:00 p.m.

Join us for a fun flower craft and stories. (R)

 

Graphic Novel Book Group (Ages 7-10)

Thursday, May 11 • 4:00 p.m.

Join us to talk about the newest releases in graphic novels. Feel free to read whatever books you like and share them with the group. There will be freebies and goodies to enjoy. (R)

 

Pokemon Night (All Ages)

Thursday, May 11 • 6:00 p.m.

Come in to watch a movie. While you are here bring your DS, 2DS, or 3DS to play your Pokemon games against others or even bring in your Pokemon cards to play or showoff. (NR)

 

Homeschool Book Group (Ages 7-14)

Friday, May 12 • 10:00 a.m.

Come on in and talk about your favorite books, recommend books to each other, and hear about upcoming books to add to your reading list. While you are here, enter to win some free books. (R)
