ROUND LAKE AREA LIBRARY POLICY REGARDING UNSUPERVISED MINORS

This policy was adopted by the Library Board of Trustees on March 15, 2006.

Children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by a caregiver age 14 or older while in the library. If a child under the age of 10 is attending a library program that does not require a caregiver to be present, the caregiver should remain inside the library building.

Children must be picked up promptly when the library closes. In the event a child under the age of 18 is left without a ride home after the library has closed, the library staff will attempt to contact the child’s caregiver by phone. If a caregiver cannot be contacted after 20 minutes, library staff will contact the Round Lake Police Department to take custody of the child.
