To obtain your library card you will need to present two forms of ID showing who you are and where you live. One form of ID must be a photo ID. Both forms of ID must contain your name. At least one form must contain your name and current Round Lake street address.
Suggested items for proof of street address include but are not limited to the following:

Bankbook or Checkbook
Property Tax Bill
FOID (Fire Owners ID
Current bill dated within the last month (utility bill, credit card, etc.)
Regular mail such as advertisements, greeting cards and letters are not acceptable forms of ID.
You are responsible for everything borrowed on your library card. If your library card is lost or stolen you are responsible until you report its loss to the library. To protect yourself please guard your card carefully. There is a $5.00 charge for replacement cards.
Your Round Lake Library Card is good in many public libraries in Illinois. Patrons holding valid library cards from other Illinois libraries are welcome to visit and to check out any materials currently on shelf in the library.
Lost & Damaged Material:
Lost or Damaged Items are subject to replacement costs of Item, plus a $5.00 processing fee.
Items over 45 days overdue with a value of $25.00 or more will be sent to collections. In addition to price of the item, a $5.00 processing fee per item, and a $10.00 referral fee will be added to your account. However, if you return items in good condition the $5.00 processing fee will be waived. You will have to pay late fines and the $10.00 referral fee.
You may renew most items once. If someone else has placed a hold on that item, however, that item cannot be renewed. You may renew most items through our online catalog, by coming into the library, or by calling on the phone. Make sure to have your library card handy when you come in or call. You will need to give us the barcode number from your library card.
There is an outside book drop located in the parking lot and a book drop on the parking lot side of the building. These book drops can be used 24 hours a day. Please put items in one at a time. Too many items at once will jam up the book drops.
The inside book drops are located in the lobby across from the checkout desk.
Illinois Library Records Confidentiality Act protects the confidentiality of your library records. For this reason you must have your library card in order for staff to provide you information about your account. All patrons have access to their library card accounts through our on-line card catalog. You can access this information in the library or from home.
A cardholder may reserve (be put on a waiting list) for any library item, which is currently checked out to someone else. No item may be reserved by or for a specific date. Reserves can be placed in person, by tele phone (please have your card handy), or from home through our on-line catalog.
Once the cardholder has been contacted regarding the availability of a reserved item, that item will be held for seven(7) days.
If a cardholder has forgotten his/her library card, but would like items held while retrieving the card, such items will be held for three (3) days.
If we do not own an item you are looking for, you may borrow it through the Interlibrary Loan System. We can place Interlibrary Loans for Round Lake Library cardholders only. If you have questions about Interlibrary Loan, please call or stop by the reference desk.
